Maaya Indian & Asian Restaurant Bath

If you ever find yourself strolling through the vibrant streets of Bath and craving a culinary adventure that breaks all the rules of ordinary dining, Maaya Indian & Asian Restaurant Bath is where your compass should point. Tucked away on 43 St James's Parade, this spot isn’t just another curry house - it’s a bold celebration of Indian and pan-Asian flavors, fused in a way that keeps both locals and visitors coming back for more.

The first thing that sets Maaya apart is its ability to harmonize tradition and creativity without ever feeling forced. Sure, you’ll find classics like Chicken Tikka Masala and Garlic Naan, but blink and you’ll spot Kashmiri Aromatic Rogan Josh (gluten-free, by the way) sitting comfortably on the same menu as Balinese Spiced Duck and Vietnamese Fish Chilli Squid. It’s like someone brought together the greatest culinary hits from South and Southeast Asia and gave them a stylish Bath twist.

Let’s talk starters, because Maaya doesn’t shy away from flavor bombs right from the get-go. The Indian Style Spicy Chicken Wings (GF)? A fiery, finger-licking opener that sets the tone. For something tangy and vibrant, Samosa Chaat or the Cauliflower Chat delivers that unmistakable street food energy with layered textures and zingy sauces. Vegetarian or vegan? No worries - Maaya's menu has a clever range of vegan dishes, including Garlic Naan (Ve) and more than a few small plates that don’t compromise on boldness.

Once you’ve worked your way into mains, you’re greeted by a lineup that caters to every spice lover’s fantasy. Dhaba Murg (GF/DF) brings a roadside-style chicken curry with just the right amount of heat, while Khao Soi - the Thai-inspired coconut curry noodle soup - is the kind of comfort dish you didn’t know you needed. Fancy something a bit on the fusion side? The Messy Fries with Asian toppings might not be what your grandma served, but they sure know how to win over modern foodies.

From the bar, Maaya keeps the experience elevated. It boasts a great wine list and craft cocktails that feel carefully curated to match the spice-forward food. A chilled Mimosa or a floral G&T does wonders to balance out the bolder dishes. If you're dining late, the atmosphere feels just right - cozy yet energetic, a perfect setting for casual solo meals or long-overdue dinners with friends.

One of the most impressive things here is the variety of service options. Whether you’re rushing back to your Airbnb and need a quick kerbside pickup, or just feel like lounging in with a no-contact delivery, Maaya’s got the logistics figured out. Of course, the dine-in experience is where the real magic happens - there’s something about soaking up those rich aromas in a relaxed, well-lit space that enhances every bite.

And let’s not forget the small plates offering, ideal for those who love to graze or simply can’t choose one dish. You could easily build an entire meal out of a combination of Chaat, Yakisoba, and maybe a couple of spicy wings on the side. Oh, and leave room for dessert - the Mochi provides a sweet, chewy contrast that cools things down just right.

So whether you’re popping in for a quick bite or settling down for a full dinner affair, Maaya Indian & Asian Restaurant Bath doesn’t just feed you - it takes you on a vibrant flavor journey across borders. The mix of Indian depth, Southeast Asian brightness, and a few fun surprises makes this spot one of Bath’s more exciting (and delicious) culinary gems.

This place is so fun and delicious! My friends and I came here on a whim when we were visiting in Bath, and we're all so glad we did. The cocktails and mocktails were so good we got seconds. The food options were a great mix of standards and totally new things. Every dish was delicious, but I especially recommend the Pani Puri and the Chicken Lollipop.

Great food. Really nice to go out for an Indian and not just have to get a curry and rice. The street food / tapas was really fun. Good to experience different types of Indian food! Definitely recommend!! And will be coming back!
